What is a Decaf Coffee?
According to FDA, for a coffee to be considered as decaf, at least 97% of caffeine should be removed from the coffee. Some decaf coffees even have 30 mg of caffeine while the others may have as low as 5 mg.

Types of instant decaf coffee
Based on the way instant coffee is prepared, it is of two types. First is when it is prepared using a method of conventionally brewing coffee. The beans are ground and then using hot and dry air, they are sprayed into a fine mist. This mist of coffee is collected and it forms flakes like what you see in a coffee powder.
The second way of making instant coffee is via freeze drying. This has longer shelf life and is easier to use. For preparing a cup of coffee, only hot water needs to be added.

Process of Decaffeination: There are three ways of removing caffeine from coffee. Even after using either of these processes, decaffeinated coffee has some small amount of caffeine.

- Swiss Water Process – This decaffeination process only uses pure H2O for removing caffeine form coffee. It is a chemical-free method.

So, if the coffee has a single type of beans, the loss will be more noticeable as compared to when you select a coffee with a mixed blend of beans. With a mixture, the complementary flavours from different beans will ensure that the loss of 
flavour from one type of beans is masked by the flavour of other beans. Different beans can mask the imperfections more because of different flavour profiles. A single beans coffee has a distinctive taste and when it is decaffeinated, the change in flavour is more significantly noticeable.

The coffee beans are decaffeinated by all-natural process during the process of roasting. The decaffeinated beans are then converted to instant coffee by the freeze-drying process. This ensures that each cup that is prepared tastes great. Café Tastle uses a proprietary N-Fi® Technology that creates coffee crystals from the beans and it maintains a uniformity of coffee distribution in the formed crystals.
